About Brown Girl Meanders

Brown Girl Meanders is a space to share stories about feeling like a perennial outsider. Our aim is to create a community that celebrates oddness and chaos, and that space in between.

 

We recognize the messiness of life lived and to be lived, the intertwining of identities and stories that would make sense nowhere except within us. We want to give those stories a place to breathe outside of you.

If you feel like a mosaic, a puzzle where you don't know what the thing is you are piecing together, we get you.

If you find yourself meandering between identities, where hyphens often live, unsure of how all what is you fits together, we see you.

If you find that you can not live with or without

the baggage of your culture and upbringing, we know you.

BGM celebrates stories about the search for belonging, and the admission that we might never quite get there. We will always be somewhere on the periphery, looking in, aching for something.

 

We love those who can't learn to love bits of themselves, but go out into the world anyways.
